Even without the whole "unlockable" thing, the standard issue characters and equipment will serve you just fine as you get busy in one of the game's three modes: single player, multiplayer, and training. The reason you'll willingly oblige isn't so much that the unlockables are anything special, but rather that the game is so irresistibly fun and hard to put down that it becomes a natural progression. Its premise is simple: unlock stuff and have fun doing it. Hittin' 'Em Straight Anybody who's played the Hot Shots series, which dates back to the original PSX, knows what the title is trying to accomplish.
